POLi refill limits
1. Nature of deposit limits
POLi itself did not set strict limits on the amount of the deposit. Restrictions were formed due to three factors:
- bank - each financial institution set its own daily and one-time limits on online transfers;
- site-operator - casino or bookmaker determined the minimum and maximum deposit for participation in games or promotions;
- regulation - local laws may have placed additional restrictions on transactions.
Thus, limits when using POLi have always been derived from the rules of the bank and the operator, and not the service itself.
2. Minimum deposits
There was no technical minimum on the POLi side.
Usually operators set a minimum deposit in the range of 5-20 AUD/NZD.
Sometimes the minimum amount was determined by the conditions of the bonus (for example, a deposit from 10 AUD to activate the promotion).
3. Maximum deposits
Bank limits. For different banks, daily and one-time restrictions differed (often from 1,000 to 5,000 AUD/NZD per operation).
Operator constraints. A casino or bookmaker could set their maximum (for example, 1,000 AUD per deposit).
Constraint alignment. If the limits of the bank and the operator diverged, a more stringent value was applied.
4. How limits were checked
When making a deposit through POLi, the user immediately saw the available amount range. If he tried to enter more than the bank or platform allowed, the system issued an error. This made the process understandable and eliminated the risk of "stuck" transactions.
5. Impact on bonuses and shares
The limit directly determined the availability of bonuses.
If the minimum deposit for the bonus was above the bank or platform limit, the player could not participate in the promotion.
For large bonuses (for example, 100% to 1,000 AUD), the size of the maximum deposit was key.
6. Current status in Australia
Closing POLi. From September 30, 2023, the service stopped working in Australia.
Legal aspect. Online casinos are prohibited by the federal Interactive Gambling Act 2001, so slot limit issues are irrelevant here.
Practical reality. Australian players use alternative methods (PayID, Osko, cards), where limits are determined by banks and operators of legal services (for example, bookmakers).
7. New Zealand: Where POLi remains relevant
In New Zealand, the service continues to operate. Deposit limits depend on:
- conditions of a specific online casino;
- local bank rules;
- player status (new/regular customer, level in loyalty program).
8. Result
POLi did not set its own limits on deposits - all limits were determined by banks and operators. Minimum amounts usually started from 5-20 AUD/NZD, the maximum depended on the bank's daily limits and casino rules. After the closure of POLi in Australia, the topic of limits has lost its relevance for local players, but in New Zealand it remains important: it is there that limits are still set through POLi, depending on the bank and the site.
